Founded as Pinch Pottery in 1979, our store has been a proud supporter of local craftsmanship for decades. Our collection features an array of handmade treasures crafted by skilled artisans. Among these is the exquisite pottery of Michael McCarthy, a renowned studio potter known for his wheel-thrown, wood-fired functional ceramics. Michael's creations are designed for everyday use, emphasizing strong forms and subtle finishes that complement any space without overwhelming it. We have been showcasing Michael McCarthy's work for over 20 years, celebrating his journey from a self-taught artist to a master potter. After honing his skills through apprenticeships and residencies, Michael returned to Western Massachusetts to establish his own studio and build a wood-burning kiln. He makes vases of various sizes, large serving bowls that make wonderful housewarming gifts or wedding gifts, as well as individual breakfast bowls, teapots, and mugs that feel great in your hand.
