Hadley, Massachusetts
Donna McGee has been making handmade pottery just down the road in Hadley, Massachusetts since before most of us knew what a pottery trail was — and she's been selling her handmade ceramics at Pinch since 1982. That's over four decades of bowls, plates, and tiles coming through our door, and we never tire of them.
What makes Donna's artisan pottery instantly recognizable is the painting. Each piece is a small canvas: crows in fields, wildflowers, farm animals, domestic scenes rendered in her own hand using engobes, underglazes, and ceramic pencil on red earthenware. She studied clay in England at the Jacob Cramer Centre for the Arts in Leeds and promised herself she'd never stop drawing — and she never has.
Every one-of-a-kind ceramic that comes to Pinch from Donna's studio is exactly that. No two pieces are the same, which makes her work one of the most treasured ceramic gift choices we carry — whether you're shopping for someone who loves art, someone who loves their morning coffee, or someone who simply deserves something made with extraordinary care.
Donna works as a member of the Asparagus Valley Pottery Trail here in Western Massachusetts, and her pieces have been collected internationally. If you find something you love, don't wait. It won't come back around.
