August 2025 Featured Artist: Kaleidoscope Pottery

We're so happy to announce that Kaleidoscope will be our featured artist this month! We've been working with the Kaleidoscope team, now headed by Evelyn, for many years now. Getting a real peak inside their studio and making process was SUCH a treat and we can't wait to share with you!

Kaleidoscope Pottery began in Vermont circa 1978—the year before Pinch came into existence!— by Kathy Hibshman and Barry Schechter. The studio was moved to Massachusetts in the 80s and was joined by Peter Feitner and Christy Knox (who is still a working potter to this day, known as Natural Elements Pottery). Evelyn joined the team in 1992 and slowly over the following years, the original team of four moved on.

Kaleidoscope is now owned and operated by Evelyn Snyder in Easthampton, Ma, with help from Anna Kubasek and their team of assistants, friends, and family.

Their goal, of which they achieve quite successfully in our opinion, is to make pottery inspired by the natural world.

Their making process is unique and deeply connected to our local natural world. Each leaf seen on their dishes is the imprint of a real leaf! And! Each leaf is only used once, making each piece perfectly unique and a real preservation of Western Mass's natural beauty.

Each leaf used in their work is gathered locally. Some leaves are able to be preserved and are used to make pots year-round (Fern, Grass with Japanese maple, and Maple) while others are only available seasonally (they call these 🌱 Garden Variety 🌱).

If you'd like to discuss placing a larger special order with us for a full tableware set, please get in contact to talk about options!

Kaleidoscope's work is hardy and meant to be used daily. It's microwave, dishwasher, and oven safe (though please be aware of and avoid thermal shock).

Pictured above is a piece that hangs in the Kaleidoscope studio. It serves as a reminder of Kaleidoscope's meaning and deeper purpose as well as to honor those who started the studio all those years ago, namely Kathy Hibshman, Evelyn's mentor who passed in 2020.

Kaleidoscope's work will be 20% off through the end of August! Please use code LEAVES20 when shopping online.
