Shortly after Jena Sujat bought Pinch back in 2006, Carlos Silva’s shadowboxes and clocks become a beloved fixture in the store that we still love to this day. Jena says, “I remember thinking how charming and fun his work was, and that people would love them.” And “love them” might be an understatement—over the past 12 years, we’ve watched customers flock to the original framed pieces, exclaiming over the tiny, brightly-colored clay pot pots in artful arrangements.
“When I met Carlos at Paradise Arts Festival that fall, his large booth was so crowded,” Jena continues. “He was very kind, cute, friendly, wearing a beret, just a genuine person.” His warm, playful nature comes through in work, and Carlos himself describes his process as “creating big moments with little pieces of art.”

Based in Eastern Massachusetts, Carlos hand-tools each porcelain miniature on a small wheel. He doesn’t use molds, which means that each piece is one-of-a-kind. He personally signs every piece.
These whimsical shadowboxes and clocks make a great conversation piece for your kitchen, living room, or office. The clocks measure 10” x 10” and the shadowboxes are available in a variety of sizes. Frames come in white, black, silver, or bronze. The porcelain miniatures are available in a variety of colors, so you can choose the perfect combination for your space.
