We've been working with Christina, the artist behind Hallies Comet, for almost 20 years. Her work is elegant, timeless, delicate, and deeply special.
We recently visited Christina's studio and spoke with her about how she started with jewelry making and her inspiration.
"I have been making jewelry for a really long time, since I was a kid. I would smash rocks in my garage when I was little, it fascinated me, and then I really started making jewelry when I was eight or nine – I used macrame, I would take apart my mom's stuff and remake it, and then I started working with brass and was a fine arts major in college, in a ceramics concentration. There was a jewelry studio and I started working on things there, and I apprenticed with a goldsmith for a few years, and then I started this business eighteen or so years ago, and Pinch was one of my first stores I was selling in!"

"I love being at Pinch, you guys are so great! Pinch was my first gig, and I started by calling her 18 years ago and her accepting me into the shop. I remember when she first accepted my work, calling my husband at the time and being so excited. It wasn't just that it was my first store, but it was that it was Pinch, in Northampton, on Main Street. Jena is so lovely, and it was fantastic, it was a confidence booster. It helped me take a deep breath and try more stores, and I love that you guys were the first ones. Another thing I'll say about Pinch is how appreciative I am of how willing you are to take a chance on things – it it's something new you guys are always open to taking a chance of something which is fun and I love that you're not just stuck on the same thing, you love to have the offshoots and I think that is what makes the store so interesting. Everyone is also sweet and displays my work so beautifully!"
