PREMIERING POTTERS SERIES WITH Laurie Ellington FOR ARTS NIGHT OUT

For the next installment of our Premiering Potters series, please help us welcome Laurie Ellington to the store!

For much of her life, Laurie Ellington has been drawn to handmade pottery. She collected it, admired it in shop windows, and marveled at throwing demonstrations. There was something about pottery that Laurie not only loved but felt she needed to be part of. Yet, for many years, she never took a class. “I was always ‘too busy...I should give my time to my child first’ or classes were ‘too expensive...I shouldn't spend that on myself’ or some other (terrible) excuse.” Says Laurie. Then, when the pandemic put the world on “pause,” and Laurie decided she wanted and needed a redirection, she worked her way through Julia Cameron’s The Artist’ Way, in which she rediscovered her desire to make pottery. Laurie signed up for a class at Easthampton Clay and the rest is history!

“The moral of my story is: if you really want to do something...don't put it off.  You deserve to pursue your passions.”

When not making pots, Laurie is a professional singer and a voice teacher. She lives in Southampton with her partner (Josh), dog (Bernie), and cat (Petunia).

Opening reception will be on September 11th, from 5-8pm. Wine and light snacks will be served!
