JUNE 14th ARTS NIGHT OUT with Lucas May
Pinch continues our Premiering Potters series in conjunction with Northampton's monthly Arts Night Out. This series showcases the work of budding local potters – such as students, apprentices, home potters, and even long-time potters who haven't shown their work much before. Arts Night Out is the second Friday of each month from 5-8 pm at galleries and shops across town.
Lucas May grew up in Rhode Island and moved to Western Massachusetts to attend Hampshire College, graduating in the spring of 2020. In 2023 he completed a 3-year apprenticeship with Maya Machin, learning more about the wood-firing process. He now works out of his studio in Northampton.
"As an artist, I’m drawn to ceramics because of the connection between physical touch and the marks we leave behind. Clay, as a medium, serves as a tangible recorder of our history, bearing witness to the marks we make upon the world and upon each other. I use my work as a way to explore my own identity and relationship to others, and seek to create pots I can see myself in." - Lucas May
Lucas will be with us on June 14th from 5-8pm for a reception. Join us!
